When does a boat become a yacht? That depends on who you ask, but in the insurance world, insurance companies that are willing to insure a boat under 30 feet in length will not insure a bigger boat. The coverage and cost factors are similar to those for smaller boats but there are a few more variables. For instance, you wouldn't be required to have a 25 foot runabout but you might be required to have one for a larger boat.
