July 9, 1955 – July 18, 2020

A service to celebrate and honor the life of Wendell Eugene Hacker will be at 2:00 PM Monday, July 27, 2020 at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City, OK. Wendell was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer in May 2019 and fought a courageous battle. He was raised up to be with his Lord and Savior on July 18, 2020, under the care of Hospice and surrounded by his wife and children. He was 65.

Wendell was born on July 9, 1955 in Kingman, Kansas to Lewis and Pauline Hacker. He grew up in Harper, Kansas where he graduated with the Chaparral High School Class of 1973. Wendell married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Janet Kay Meyer, on May 24, 1974. He joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was baptized on April 2, 1983. Wendell began working out of high school as a Crane Operator and was employed for a short time with American General Insurance. Wendell was a Jack of all trades and used these skills to work in appliance service until he began his journey as a Computer Programmer with Farm Fresh Dairy. In 1992, Wendell began his 28 year career with Southwest Cupid Foundation where he retired on June 30, 2020. During his time with Cupid he proudly led the development of the off shore computerization for the company which allowed him the opportunity to travel to Mexico, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. There is no doubt that Wendell’s proudest accomplishment in life was his family. Wendell was often strumming his guitar and sharing his love of country music with family and friends. He was fond of the great outdoors and throughout his life he enjoyed camping and boating; hunting; fishing; golfing; and snow skiing. He had a love of wood working and watching sports.

Wendell is survived by his adoring and devoted wife of 46 years, Janet, and has left a legacy of love with his daughter, Stacy, and husband Keith and son, Chad, and wife Denee. Wendell cherished his 5 grandchildren: Addison, Logan, Camryn, Landon and Landry whom he was lovingly referred to as Pappy. He was a loving brother to his two sisters, Janice and Bonita, and son to his adored mother, Pauline. He was welcomed into heaven by his father, Lewis.

Wendell will be remembered as a hard worker who never lost his sense of humor, no matter the difficulties he encountered. He had a strong will to live and fought hard against his illness until the end. Wendell will remain an inspiration for his entire family for generations to come.
