Foy Insurance has community roots back to 1893 in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. Part of the World Insurance Associates family we now have access to even more products and services to assist our customers' insurance needs.

As an independent insurance agency, our goal is to assist you in your insurance needs. We will help you manage and plan for your potential risks. With your assistance, we assess your needs and offer you a variety of insurance products to choose from. Service, whether it is in response to an insurance claim or general question, is the most important value we offer you.

Company History

Our founder, James M. Foy, began his insurance career with the Fireman’s Fund in Boston, MA, after growing up in the sleepy New England town of Newton, NH (just south of Foy Insurance headquarters in Exeter). He joined Bud Collishaw (his parent’s insurance agent) at Elwell-Collishaw Agency in Exeter, NH, in 1968. Elwell-Collishaw Agency was originally founded by Colonel Rufus Elwell in 1893 and known as Elwell’s Insurance Agency. Jim doubled the size of the agency within a year and, consequently, he was made vice president and acquired 50% ownership. The internal growth and acquisitions of small local agencies began then and continued at a steady pace until 1992. In March of that year, the agency group acquired the Poliquin Agency with its 3 offices in Nashua, Salem, and Manchester. The acquisition increased the size of the agency group by 75%, making Foy Insurance Group one of the largest agencies in NH.  We have moved or opened new offices in Milford MA, Manchester NH, Tilton NH, Dover NH, Windham NH, York ME and Scarborough ME.  In 2016 we were recognized as NH Business of the Year by Business NH Magazine.  In 2023 we joined the World Insurance Associates LLC family allowing us access to more products and services to assist our customer needs along with building stronger relationships with the insurance companies we represent.

The Foy family motto – from old English times – is “deeds not words.” Our philosophy of doing business is true to this short but succinct statement – we care for our clients’ needs and carrier relationships 7 days a week and 52 weeks a year.

I just wanted to recognize one of your agents in the Milford office and the outstanding service that was provided to my wife and I as we moved from NH to MA. I have been a long time Foy client through the years and have enjoyed outstanding service from your Manchester branch, most recently working with Diane Berube. We recently relocated to the Marlborough MA area Diane in your NH office helped me to closeout out the NH insurances and referred us to John Niro in your Milford, MA office to help get our MA insurance initiated. Through the entire process John has been outstanding and has helped us make an easy, painless transition. He filled out all the RMV paperwork for us, met us at the registry to get our plates and address any issues that came up. It happened that one of our vehicles was purchased in MA a couple years back and the RMV wanted to charge us retroactive sales tax. John worked with the dealer we bought the car from to get the proper documentation to avert paying sales tax saving us around $1K. John drove to the dealership on our behalf, retrieved the paperwork went back to the registry to finalize the registration paperwork and then drove the vehicle plates and registration to my place of work in Westborough the next day. John’s efforts through the entire process were so far above and beyond what I imagined I wanted to bring his exemplary work to the company’s attention.
