Yes, you can insure a car for a week with us. Whether you want to borrow someone else’s car or share the driving while travelling, our temporary insurance can help you get on the road for as long as you need.

What is the excess for weekly car insurance policies?

What is the cancellation policy on weekly car insurance?

You can cancel your policy at any time. There are two ways of doing this:

Can I get 1-week car insurance if I already have an annual policy?

Yes, you can. Your weekly cover is completely separate and won’t affect the no-claims bonus on your annual policy. But bear in mind that you won’t be able to claim for the same accident on both policies.

Can I extend a one-week car insurance policy?

Weekly car insurance extensions are available on a like-for-like basis and are subject to acceptance from the underwriter. Apply using the extend button displayed on your Dayinsure Customer Account dashboard.

The terms and conditions of your policy will stay the same – only the end date will change. We’ll send you a revised certificate and schedule once you’ve completed the extension process.

If you still need cover after making an extension or are unable to make an extension for some reason, you can simply apply for a new 1-week car insurance policy instead.

Do I need to be the registered keeper or owner to get weekly car insurance?

No, you don’t need to be the registered keeper or owner of the car you’re insuring. But bear in mind that if you’re taking out 1-week car insurance on someone else’s car, you’ll need to have their permission.

Can I get one-week car insurance for a hired or rented vehicle?

Unfortunately, we don’t provide weekly car insurance for hired or rented cars or vans. But we can offer coverage for rented motorhomes through our temporary motorhome insurance.

Does one-week car insurance cover travel to Europe?

Our weekly car insurance covers travel to Switzerland and countries in the EU and EEA – as long as the policy starts and ends with the car in the UK.

Third-party European cover is included as standard. You can upgrade to comprehensive European cover during your application.

Bear in mind that you may need to get more than just insurance to drive in the EU.

How long does it take to get one-week car insurance?
