Obituary – Karen Ruth Lazo

Karen Ruth Lazo, 64, of Yukon, Oklahoma.  Born October 23rd, 1954 to Samuel Rapheal Lazo and Missouri Francis (Pope) Lazo at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

She was raised by her grandparents Charles E. Lazo Sr and Delia M Lazo. She entered her eternal home on July 17, 2019 at 7:20 am at Integris Hospice House Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a short battle with cancer.

Karen was a kind-hearted woman that had given her heart to God.  She was born premature and grew up under difficult circumstances.  Almost right after birth she was adopted by her grandparents and raised with her sister Adelina, brother Ronnie and two cousins, John, and Vep.  They didn’t have much money growing up, but they made it work.

Karen had an entrepreneurial spirit.  She finished with an associate’s degree in math and worked in bookkeeping for Central Espanol.  When she didn’t have steady work, she found ways to make money fixing, buying, and selling things.  She had a real knack for electronics. From very early on she liked to mess around with computers. She would find parts on Ebay and turn something that looked like junk to most people into a real treasure to someone online.

She never had much money, but she always made room for people.  If she had something she thought someone could use, it was theirs.  Even as she was about to leave this life, she was thinking about who she could give her little stored up treasures too.  The pain and broken relationships of the past were often difficult. She expressed her desire to restore those relationships that had been nonexistent.  She cherished the simple, yet meaningful, connection she made with her biological mother.

Karen was preceded in death by her father Samuel, grandparents Charles and Delia, sister Adelina Lazo Roberts, Grace Lazo Goodwin, Elizabeth Lazo Henderson, Ruth Lazo Johnson, brother Charles Lazo Jr. and cousin, (though raised as sibling) Donald Vesphew Roberts. She is survived by her biological mother Francis, sister Naomi Lazo Green and cousin, (though raised as sibling) John Charles Roberts.

A memorial service will be held in memory of Karen Lazo on Thursday, July 25th, 2019, 10 a.m., at the First Assembly of God 19751 Manek Dr., Harrah, OK 73045.  Please call (405) 454-2574 to arrange delivery of flowers or other items.
