What isn’t marvelous is the fact that insurance can sometimes be difficult to come by. Due to the fact that by definition second homes will be “unoccupied” for long periods of time many companies try to steer clear of second homes. In the past many insurance companies would provide coverage for homes in the US owned by Canadian or Mexican citizens, but because  their was no social security number that could be used to get what they call an “insurance score” the prices weren’t all that great. Fortunately several of the insurance companies we represent have realized that was dumb  and will provide discounts, to make their policies more competitive and reasonable for foreign investors.
