Our firm was hired to represent an individual visiting a national hotel chain due to a fall that occurred in their hallway. The hotel designed a raise in the hallway floor just outside the elevator entrance which was difficult to detect due to the lack of lighting and materials used in the design. Our client was coming out of the elevator when he tripped over the raised portion of the hallway. He fell on his left shoulder and tore his rotator cuff requiring surgery and substantial rehabilitation. The matter was resolved in mediation prior to trial for a significant confidential amount.

On January 17, 2014, wrongful death claims for two young men were resolved with Bartlett Grain, arising out of a grain elevator explosion two years before. The amount of the settlement is confidential.

A line of motorcycles manufactured in China and sold through a United States distributor led to a wreck causing a severe shoulder injury and fractured arm. The cause of the accident was a designed defect in the throttle cable assembly causing the throttle to stick in certain situations. Our client was thrown from the motorcycle, receiving severe injuries. A lawsuit was brought against the Chinese corporation and the American distributor. A verdict was entered against the Chinese corporation in the amount of $200,000.

On May 28, 2014, a six-year-old boy’s head injury claim was settled with an inflatable company for injuries sustained by the boy when he was at a school carnival and was playing on one of the inflatables. The amount of the settlement is confidential.
