Online claims
95% of all Pet Insurance claims through John Lewis are paid within 5 days. Choose whether claims payments go directly to you or, if they agree, to your vet, whichever works best. (Claims data from May 2023 to Oct 2023. Excess applies.)
Treatment foods
If prescribed by your vet, your policy could cover up to £300 per policy year. This would be deducted from your annual vet fee limit.
Complementary therapies
These can be carried out by your vet or by a specialist under your vet’s direction. Your policy could cover up to £1,500 per policy year. This would be deducted from your annual vet fee limit.

If your cat or dog is at least eight weeks old, they could be eligible for John Lewis Pet Insurance. There is no upper age limit, but there could be other circumstances where they couldn’t be covered.
Once you've taken out a policy, you’re not able to claim for vet fees as a result of an accident in the first 48 hours. You also can't claim for any changes in your pet's health or behaviour in the first 14 days of cover.
Does pet insurance cover neutering?
Pet insurance doesn’t typically cover the cost of neutering because it is a preventative treatment.

Pet insurance doesn’t usually cover vaccinations as they are considered to be routine. It’s important to keep your pet’s vaccinations up to date for their own safety. If your pet becomes unwell and needs treatment because they have missed a vaccination, you may not be able to make a claim.
