Payment Information and Options

Clients are required to pay in full for all services received on the day they are provided, or upon discharge for inpatients. Payments may be made by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.

You may also make a payment online: Online Bill Pay.

If your animal will stay with us for at least one night, they are considered an inpatient. Before they are admitted, we require your approval of a cost estimate. Clients are also required to pay 50% of the highest end of the estimate range for inpatients. Payment of the remaining balance is expected at the time of the patient’s release from the hospital.

While UW Veterinary Care does not directly finance client accounts, a financing option is available through CareCredit. One of the options available to clients is no-interest financing if their account is paid off within six months.

Financing with CareCredit

UW Veterinary Care is pleased to provide our clients with convenient payment options. CareCredit is a program available for all veterinary services in both the Small and Large Animal Hospital, and offers financing options that include:

0% for a financed amount over $200 if paid within 6 months 0% for a financed amount over $2,000 if paid within 12 months 24-, 36- and 48-month plans at commercial interest rates for any amount that exceeds $2,000 60-month plan at commercial interest rates for amounts that exceed $2,500 For more information about this financing option, or to apply for a CareCredit account to be used at UWVC, visit www.carecredit.com. UWVC staff can also assist you with an application here at the hospital. Please ask one of our reception desk staff for more information.

Pet Insurance

UW Veterinary Care offers the most advanced treatments for ailing animals, and we understand that covering the cost of medical and surgical services can sometimes be overwhelming.

Many owners consider pet health insurance, and several companies provide plan options for animals. Most policies are established as reimbursement plans, which means that you pay your bill for veterinary services and are reimbursed by the insurance company according to the provisions of your policy. UW Veterinary Care requests that clients work directly with their pet insurance companies for reimbursement of patient medical costs.

If you are interested in learning more about pet insurance, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) provides information and links to a number of pet insurance companies on their website.

At UW Veterinary Care, we understand that caring for your companion can sometimes be expensive. Although we are part of a public university, the majority of our revenue comes from payment for the services we provide. This is how we are able to generate enough income to pay our staff, keep our equipment up to date, and provide the best veterinary medical care possible.

To help our clients manage the costs of veterinary medical care, we accept CareCredit and all major credit cards. If you have specific financial constraints or concerns, we highly recommend speaking with your veterinarian and clarifying what your expectations are for cost and outcome of care. There may be other treatment options available for your patient, and your veterinarian can best advise alternative therapies, the associated costs, and potential outcomes for various treatment plans.
