If you’re after a top level of cover and don’t mind managing your car insurance online, Progressive Comprehensive Insurance is a policy that you should absolutely consider. This Comprehensive Insurance policy gives you a flexible choice of excess alongside a number of optional extras and a 'Claims Free Discount' that means your annual premium doesn’t have to be so pricey.

This policy comes with all of the features you’d expect from a complete comprehensive car insurance policy. For example, you’ll be covered for excess-free windscreen repair should yours be chipped and you’ll also have the control to come to an agreed value of your car with Progressive. This policy also offers up to $500 worth of cover for emergency repairs, which will enable your car to be driven home after it has been damaged in a covered incident.

There are a few things that aren’t automatically covered with Progressive’s Comprehensive Insurance, however. While you will be covered for any modifications made by a dealership at the time of sale, you won’t be covered for any modifications made after that. It is also important to note that while the costs of a rental car are covered following theft, you’ll need to opt in for rental costs to be covered after an accident.

You can also add roadside assistance to your policy for an extra $89 a year.

You'll also be able to take advantage of other optional extras: replacement of your windscreen or window glass if it's damaged by an insured event, and an excess buster which allows one excess to be waived in your cover period, given that the cost of repair is over the standard excess amount.

Finally, keep in mind that Progressive rewards customers who pay their premiums in full, so monthly premium payments will cost you some extra cash.

Progressive is a 100% online company so its Comprehensive Insurance could be an attractive option for you if you enjoy managing your insurance policies online. It is particularly good value if you have a number of cars and can make the most of Progressive’s multi-car discount.

Be aware of the $850 unlisted and young driver excesses that you may need to pay in the event of an accident.

Progressive called the tow truck driver to ask questions of the night... not the police?? Every time I lodge a form via email they don't read it. You have to call after and get actual acknowledgement of the email or it will just sit unread. When asked they just say we are a call centre first (they why email?).

Progressive Direct are number one for service and claims, we have had two claims with them and they did all the work for us, awesome.
