Day Camps:

Day camps which allow campers to attend for 3 consecutive weeks or longer are considered Child Care Centers and must be licensed by the Department of Social Services.

If not licensed by the Department of Social Services, then day camps must be licensed by the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs if providing services to children with special needs

Residential Camps: 

Residential camps providing services to those with special needs need to be licensed with the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs

Only Day Camps required to be licensed as Child Care Centers and those licensed to provide services to those with special needs are required to run state and federal level fingerprint checks on all employees and volunteers.
