Man jailed for caravan park murder

A man has been jailed for 18 years after pleading guilty to the murder of a man at a Rushworth caravan park, in northern Victoria.

Lakhwinder Singh, 28, died after he was stabbed by 39-year-old Thy Sok in April last year.

The court was told Mr Singh was in Rushworth to pick fruit over Easter.

At the time of the stabbing, he was sitting with Sok's ex-girlfriend showing her photos of his family.

The court heard Sok stabbed Mr Singh and told him to get out, before returning to his caravan and then driving away.

Justice Beach said while Sok may have been suffering from some chronic level of depression at the time of the murder, it was not enough as to significantly reduce his moral culpability.

Sok was sentenced to 18 years jail, with a non-parole period of 14 years.
