Two found dead in RV at Pa. Turnpike travel plaza: police

A man and a woman from Huntington Beach, California, were found dead on Oct. 22 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Pennsylvania State Police at Carlisle said Friday.

Bruce Frenchak, 57, and Sheliene Zhanette, 54, were missing from California. They were found in a recreational vehicle at the Blue Mountain Travel Plaza near Newburg, Cumberland County.

A trooper noticed the RV at the plaza on Oct. 21, and that it had not moved within 24 hours, state police said. It was still parked at the Travel Plaza on Oct. 22.

Following a search of the vehicle’s California registration, authorities were unable to contact the owners but discovered the two were missing from Tuolumne County, California.

When a trooper took a closer look at the vehicle, they saw a “nonresponsive” man lying face down, state police said. Troopers, along with the Newburg-Hopewell Fire Company, forced their way into the vehicle, finding both the man and the woman dead.

Their autopsies were held on Oct. 28; however, the cause and manner of death for both has not yet been determined, according to state police. Authorities are still investigating.
