"Clean, comfortable, well-equipped, spacious for two, wonderfully situated and owned by a couple, Ann and Phil, who really do care that you have a good stay."

Outdoor seating in a private courtyard and at the front of the property. Set in rural Devon and also quite close to the coast there is plenty of good walking and Modbury, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are all worth a visit. The National Trust is represented at Greenacres (Agatha Christie's home) and Coleton Fishacre (our favourite NT garden) and there are two well run steam railways in the area so plenty to do and see. Super cottage in a super location, that's why we keep going back.

"Meadow View had everything we wanted and in a beautiful location."

It was lovely watching the sun set over Dartmoor every evening. The only thing that would have made it better (or safer) would be to have a bannister running all the way up as my partner was a little unsteady on the stairs without it. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

"Property showing signs of needing a general refresh."

Windows need to be cleaned to enjoy the stunning view. Owners need to keep an eye on whoever they employ to do the cleaning. Fantastic location.

"We were very happy with the barn and enjoyed our stay."

The place was very clean, well equipped and in a lovely location. Please consider leaving some cupboard space vacant for guests to store their food etc. Every shelf had something on it. Shame we picked the week that the neighbours had the builders in, with the view and location it would be ideal for a lazy reading day.

"The apartment was spacious, warm and comfortable."

Just what we needed for a November stay. On the negative side, whilst the property was reasonably clean I Saw no evidence of the deep cleaning expected to mitigate the risks of covid. Also I discovered that the property had a "good housekeeping" bond of £200. What's that about? Are they not insured? Furthermore I discovered this after I had made and paid for the booking and I did not give my permission (explicit or implicit) for Sykes cottages to retain my card details or to take any further payments. In fairness to Sykes Cottages, the property was managed by another company, Coast and Country who were somewhat heavy handed.

"What a lovely cottage, clean, comfortable and just as advertised."

Really impressed with kitchen, there were so many things available, ie, glasses, cups, mats, toast rack, butter dish, everything you could think of. Very friendly owner, checked with us all was ok. We arrived to find milk in the fridge and Tbags and sugar. The cottage was outside the village but you could walk to a pub and garage with a shop and there was a stall with eggs, potatoes and vegetables with an honesty box. It was perfect location for what we needed

"A lovely furnished cottage, beautiful views ,the owners have listened to past comments and there is now a table and chairs at the front if the building perfect to sit and take in the views,we had a hare run past and a pair of pheasents always around."

Loved cooking in the kitchen everything I needed,great to return to after a day out .heating easy to use and the sofas are so comfortable,take a couple of cushions as things like that aren't in due to Covid,all rules were followed and the place is spotless. You soon get used to the narrow lanes there's plenty of passing places. Half hour to lots of places on the coast . Also Plymouth and across to Cornwall,is just under the hour.

"Meadow View is in an excellent location for exploring South Hams area with a useful garage/food store a few minutes down the road."

The accommodation was spotless on arrival with tea bags and milk for a cup of tea after a long drive. The bedroom is very spacious with a wonderful view towards Dartmoor. Downstairs an open plan living area which is comfortable. Outside there’s a court yard area to sit or by the front door a table and chairs, which has a lovely view. The only improvement I’d like is a dishwasher in place of the washing machine but maybe that’s just me and only a small negative.

"Meadow View provides the perfect getaway from the stresses of everyday life."

The view of Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside from both the bedroom window and living room door are beautiful, the cottage is very comfortable and extremely clean. The Proprietor is very welcoming. If you are in need of peace and quiet a stay at Meadow View is the perfect tonic - all we could hear was the sound of the birds and the wind.

"A lovely cottage, very well appointed."

Very friendly and welcoming owners. Could not fault the cottage itself. DON'T follow SAT NAV - use the directions on the website. A lovely pub/restaurant nearby called The California and an excellent hotel/restaurant in Mobury called The White Hart. The local A roads are quite narrow, sometimes single-track so be aware if you drive a large vehicle.

"Generally OK, there are a few improvements that could be made which would make it better."

Bigger towels, hair dryer, heavier curtains to keep out the light in the morning, smart tv. It would also be nice to have an outside seating area at the front so that the view could be enjoyed, we didn't use the seating in the quadrangle, who wants to sit and look at 4 walls.

"In the past we have been disappointed when upon arriving at rental accommodation the property was not as advertised, and not as clean as is should be."

This property was spotless, comfortable and had all the facilities needed. The only fault we could find was that there was no place to hang wet outdoor clothes if it was raining. A lovely quiet spot with a wonderful view of Dartmoor, and with a Garage and restaurant 5 mins away. We loved it.

De ligging ten opzichte van de mooie kust en de gezellige stadjes zijn een bonus. Bovendien was de cottage schoon, gezellig en van alle gemakken voorzien. Met name de slaapkamer is erg mooi. Het mooie grote raam daar en het uitzicht zijn prachtig. Anne(eigenaar) was erg vriendelijk en voorkomend.

The standard of furnishings was good, and was very clean. Best of all for my husband was the dark skies at night, no light pollution, so bringing a rather large telescope on holiday with us was not a waste of time or space in the car.

Comfortable furnishings and very much like the on line photos. Only disappointment was outside seating as it was an internal courtyard so no views. There were a few thing missing from the kitchen that I would normally expect like oven gloves, kitchen scissors but having said that if I went again I would take those. "The cotages was cleaned to a reasonable standard and warm."

The bedroom was comfortable with good storage. I was concerned that the window in the bed room at floor hight had no safety bars so a confused person sleep waker visiting child could fall out. !!!!! This dose not complie with current building regulations. The storage down stairs was so limited , sweeping brush and seat cushions for out side left in the kitchen/ living room. Some form of clothes dryer for wet days would have been helpful, better still a washer dryer. Those improvements made would make it into a very good holiday let. The owners visited and seemed helpful.

"We recently stayed in Meadow View Cottage and just loved it!"

It is in such a lovely quiet location, but within half an hours drive to lots of lovely locations, including Dartmouth and Salcombe. The cottage is very clean and tidy with modern facilities. Its is bright and airy and we will certainly return again in future. Although we visited in the Summer i'm sure it would be the perfect any time of the year.

Very comfortable and all mod cons. Would have been nice to have a tea towel and change of towels after our first week. Weather was pretty awful so difficult to dry them. Also, found it strange not to separate recyclables but that's not C&C's fault. All in all a lovely break, peace and quiet, just what we needed. Would definitely recommend.

Summary

The property

A beautifully furnished property situated in a picturesque rural setting, enjoying far reaching views over the countryside and beyond to Dartmoor.

Just 8 miles from the popular surfing beach at Bigbury, and only a 20-minute drive from Dartmoor National Park, Meadow View is the perfect retreat for couples looking to explore the South Devon coast and countryside.

The front door leads into a light and spacious open plan living area, enjoying comfortable leather sofas and flatscreen TV unit.

The dining area has a glass table that seats up to four guests.

The galley-style kitchen is modern, and well equipped (including washing machine, fridge, oven and ceramic hob, and microwave), with stairs leading to the first floor.

Sleeping two guests, the large and spacious bedroom enjoys views towards Dartmoor, a King-size bed and ample storage.

The shower room is also on the first floor.

Outside, the property boasts a large patio area (with furniture and parasol), perfect for al fresco dining.

To the front of the property is parking for 1-2 cars.

Free Wireless broadband is provided.

Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided, but guests are required to bring their own beach towels.
