What does Sports Travel Insurance cover?

Sports Travel Insurance differs from most basic travel policies as it will also protect you whilst participating in a large range of sports abroad. This includes extreme sports, competitions and training camps, which in most cases would not be covered under many other standard travel insurance policies.

It works just like any other travel insurance, meaning that it will protect you should you have an accident or illness abroad, lose your luggage or experience delays. It will even reimburse the cost of your lost, stolen or damaged sports equipment. 

Will I be covered during races and events?

Yes, our policy will cover you for participating in competitions, races and events unless otherwise stated.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you fall ill with COVID-19 during your trip and require emergency medical expenses care and/or repatriation to the UK, this would be covered under the policy, as long as the FCDO are not advising against all but essential travel, or against all travel to the country or area which you are visiting.

We will also cover you if you have to cancel or curtail your trip due to falling ill with COVID-19 due to you being too ill to travel, or if travelling meant that you would be contravening airline restrictions, or would be breaching entry restrictions in the country to which you were planning to travel.

You would also be covered under the Activity and Race Entry Fees section of the cover if you are unable to participate in an activity that has been paid for in advance due to contracting COVID-19.

You can purchase our Sports Travel Insurance online up until 74 years old. Above this age, you would need to call us on 01494 484800 and we will be able to refer your quote to our underwriters. Please note, our quotes are based on your age at the start date of cover.
